The end is near, as the summer holidays draw to a close so do our purses!

So its the end of the summer holidays and you still have 1 week left to entertain the kids but you now have zero money and can’t face another day in the house.

So what is there to do that won’t cost money!

  • Make a den

This can be done in the house, in the garden or even at the park, use blankets, twigs, wood, furniture. All cost free and under your nose.

  • Go to the library

They are free and because children never go to them in the modern world they actually really enjoy it. Choose a good book in the children corner and sit and read with your child. Check your local libraries too as they often have free children events to attend.

  • Pick some natural resources

Go leaf, stone. wood, stick picking and use the materials to make a picture the following day. This gives you two days worth of activities and if you go to the park, the kids can stop off for a play.

  • Do some gardening

Yes, let the children get stuck in and get them pulling them weeds out. As summer finishes you will be glad of the help in the garden ready for winter.

  • Have a game of football

This can done in the garden, in the park or go to a football pitch.

  • Chalk the path

Play hopscotch, play the old fashioned games we used to play as children. 😉

  • Go to a museum

  • Look online in your local area

There are lots of free things to do in parks if you look online, you will find various things in your area

Most if all, enjoy your last week with them and have fun!

  1. The end of the holidays were quite wet and grey up here so we took to building indoor forts and having movie/duvet days. It’s easier now they’re older mind. 🙂

  2. We’ve recently made an “end of summer bucket list” and I let the kids chose their own activities. I was amazed at how many of the things they wanted to do were free! Feed the ducks / bake / go on a mini beast hunt / picnic etc. I’m sure if it had been left to me to chose we’d have ended up spending an unnecessary fortune. The best things in life honestly are free sometimes aren’t they? Great ideas! Thanks for linking to #DreamTeam x
